I guess it is time to get this out before the rumor mill gets a hold of this and craziness ensues.
On Friday the 8th I went into the doctor with a lump just above my choler bone. It had formed a couple of weeks before and had not gone away, so it was time to get it checked out. Over this last week I have had surgery to get it removed and biopsied, and have gone through a number of other test. Yesterday, Friday the 15th, I met with the my doctor and was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma.
I have attached a page from the mayo clinic explaining this cancer.

OK before anybody freaks out. I am feeling fine. I have had ZERO symptoms and continue to feel perfectly fine. The only way that we would have ever known that I have this was that I had the lump that got infected.
We have got this early. My prognosis is great. Every doctor that we have talked to have said that if you have to have cancer this is the one that you want. They also say that the fact that I am 31 year old healthy, non-smoker, non-drinker.......is very positive. Everyone feels very confident that I will be able to kick this.
I also feel that the Staff that I have at HotShots is terrific and I KNOW that it will be in good hands during those times that I am not feeling well. For all that they will be doing for me and my family, THANK YOU!!
The plan is that ASAP I am going to set-up a blog to keep everyone who is concerned up to date. I don't feel that these forums are the appropriate place for continued everyday updates. I will post the link here as soon as it is available for any one who wants to know.
Finally, please feel free to ask any questions (on the blog or to me, again lets not clog up these forums). It is just something that we are dealing with and Shelly and I are very optimistic. One of the things that I am most concerned about is, how do I word this, unnecessary sympathy. We know that you care and are concerned. We REALLY appreciate all of the prayers that have happened and will continue to happen. But the fact is: I AM NOT DIEING. Yes treatment is going to be awful, but we will get through it and be able to get on with life.
I have recently seen the US swimmer Eric Shanteau, who has testicular cancer, wearing a shirt saying, "cancer sucks!" (I do plan on getting some of these shirts printed) That how I feel. Ya it sucks, but it is not the end of the world. I will be fine. We will get through this.
