I have been asked a few times recently what is going on with the RC program, so here it goes.
1st of all an RC Program was never in the original busines plan or concept of HotShots, it has been built for all intents and purposes by volinteers, under the direction (I use the term loosly, the volinteers did most of the work and Buck was the contact/promoter with HotShots) of Buck. Buck is also the one who personlly invested in putting in a hobby shop. Buck still has what remains of the parts that were in the shop and still has open account with suppliers. I needed the space the the hobby shop was is and that is why it was taken out. I honestly don't know at what level the hobby shop will continue. Unfortunately that will be a wait and see situation. As you all know Buck is no longer able to be a part of the RC program on any level. Between work and building himself a new house he is insanely busy.
HotShots has put out some money in support through facilities, timing system, etc. As a business venture a RC track is not making us ANY money. That is why I won't absorb it into everything else I do.
The new plan at this point is to hand the program over to more of a club style orginization with Keith and Paul as the lead. They will do all of the planing and orginization and HotShots will charge a small per head use fee for for the space and the timing system. We feel this is the best way to keep the program alive, otherwise the program would just dry up.
Now for the race this month. We are down to the last few weeks and absolutely no planning or promoting has happened. I don't feel that it would do anyone any good to try to force this race to happen. So the race is CANCELED for this month. Talking to Keith last night we may try to put together a club race in the next month or so, but the plan is to get organized and start fresh next year.
I hope everyone understands the situation and will support us in this decision.
